DESCRIPTION
Day 1: Marrakech to Dades Valley
Pick you up from your riad and set off towards the High Atlas Mountains, where you'll be awed by the towering peaks, the highest reaching around 3,000 meters. Enjoy stunning views of Berber villages nestled on the mountainsides. Our next stop is Ouarzazate, often referred to as the "Hollywood of Morocco," a tranquil town dotted with fortresses and traditional villages. After a delicious lunch in Ouarzazate, we’ll travel along the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs to the enchanting Dades Valley, known for its lush green groves and abundant fruit trees, including roses and nuts, which stretch across the Anti-Atlas canyons. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at a hotel.
Day 2: Dades Valley to Tafraout Sidi Ali Village
After breakfast, we’ll drive to the nearby Toudra Valley for a short hike through the famous Toudra Gorges. Our journey continues over Tizi N-Tfrkhin through the Anti-Atlas Mountains to the secluded village of Tafraout. Eenjoy a picnic under an acacia tree in the savannah. Following lunch, we’ll drive through the village of Fezou before navigating the rugged terrain to Tafraout. This charming village offers tranquility, simple living, and warm hospitality. You’ll have the chance to share a cup of tea with a local family and visit the main oasis with locals. Dinner and overnight stay will be in a hotel.
Day 3: Tafraout Village to Merzouga
After breakfast, we’ll continue our off-road journey to Merzouga, the nearest village to the main road. En route, we’ll visit the archaeological site of Taous, where ancient engravings tell the story of the area’s first settlers. Next, we’ll stop in Khamlia, a village predominantly inhabited by Black Berbers, where you can enjoy their vibrant Gnaoua music, featuring drums and metal instruments. Lunch will be at a local restaurant serving traditional Berber pizza, filled with spicy ingredients and tender meat. After lunch, we’ll head to the hotel to prepare for a memorable camel ride. The camel ride lasts about an hour and a half as we traverse the dunes at sunset, offering incredible hospitality and breathtaking night views. After dinner, immerse yourself in the local rhythms around the fire before settling into well-equipped tents (lamps, mattresses, blankets, and other essentials provided).
Day 4: Merzouga to Ouarzazate
Awaken early to witness a stunning sunrise, then mount your camels for the return trip to the village where you will meet your driver again and leave towards Ouarzazate. Our first stop is Rissani, located 35 kilometers north of Merzouga, where you'll explore the traditional souk, historically a hub for caravan trade. We’ll then continue to Ouarzazate, taking a scenic alternative route that passes through Alnif, Nkob, and various villages by the black desert and the Draa Valley, the longest in Morocco. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, check into your hotel with dinner and breakfast.
Day 5: Ouarzazate to Marrakech
After breakfast, we’ll begin our journey back to Marrakech, with a mandatory stop at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, famous for its appearances in films like "Lawrence of Arabia," "Babel," and "The Physician." Explore the kasbah’s corridors and climb to the top for panoramic views. We’ll then continue our trip back to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. This marks the end of your tour.
