DESCRIPTION

Day 1: Fes to Merzouga via Ifrane, Midelt, and the Atlas Mountains

After breakfast at your riad, depart Fes and travel to Ifrane, a picturesque mountain village often called "the Switzerland of Morocco," then continue on to Midelt. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the Middle and High Atlas mountains, stopping at Morocco’s largest cedar forest, where you might spot Barbary apes. Your journey continues through the breathtaking Tizi Ntalghamt pass and Ziz Gorge, revealing desert landscapes as you approach Errachidia. After lunch, travel along the lush Ziz Valley, taking in panoramic views before arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon. Overnight accommodations will be at a riad.

Day 2: Exploring Merzouga and the Dunes

After breakfast at the hotel, explore the Merzouga area, visiting the village of Khamlia and the Mifis mines, as well as meeting nomadic families living between the dunes and the Algerian border. Return to the hotel for a refreshing glass of mint tea before your camel ride guided by an experienced camel handler to experience the golden sands of Merzouga. Dinner will be served at the camp where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Merzouga to Dades via Todra Gorges and Tinghir

Your camel guide will wake you early to witness what may be the best sunrise of your life as you camel-trek back to Merzouga. Here you meet your driver and depart for Rissani, Tinghir, and the spectacular Todra Gorges, the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. Enjoy a short walk in the gorge before continuing through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see remarkable rock formations known as "monkey toes" and majestic sand castles. Overnight accommodation will be at a Hotel in the valley.

Day 4: Trekking in Dades Valley

After breakfast, begin your trek in Dades Valley, walking through the lush landscape dotted with villages, cereal fields, and almond trees. Dades Valley is a hidden gem of Morocco, showcasing olive and fig groves, ancient kasbah ruins, Berber architecture, and warm local hospitality. This picturesque valley promises to reveal many secrets during your trek. You will spend the night in the same hotel, enjoying dinner and breakfast.

Day 5: Dades Gorges to Marrakech via Ouarzazate, Ait Benhaddou, and the High Atlas Mountains

Following breakfast at the hotel, embark on the final leg of your trip along the Thousand Kasbah route through the Rose Valley, visiting Skoura Oasis and its authentic 17th-century kasbah, as well as the Taourirt Kasbah, the former residence of the Glaoui. Enjoy lunch in Ouarzazate before heading to Ait Benhaddou, the oldest kasbah in southern Morocco. Finally, make your way to Marrakech, driving for about four hours through the Tizi N'Tichka pass, with stops along the way, arriving around 6:00 PM.
